CVE-2022-25969

Code execution via installer DLL search path

Published Mar 17, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Uncontrolled DLL loading in the WPS Office 10.8.0.6186 installer allows attackers to execute code as the invoking user. The installer searches its own download directory for VERSION.DLL and other DLLs and loads an attacker-planted file without constraining the search path. A user must be tricked into saving a malicious DLL beside the installer and then launching it; the payload gains only that user's privileges.
