Unauthenticated file upload via frontend form
Published Aug 22, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Unrestricted file upload in Advanced Custom Fields and Advanced Custom Fields PRO before 5.12.3 allows remote attackers to upload permitted files through a frontend form. The form handler accepts attacker-supplied file content without requiring authorization, while default WordPress rules block PHP uploads. Exploitation requires a publicly reachable ACF frontend form; uploaded non-PHP files can support phishing or chaining with another flaw, but direct code execution is not established.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
