File disclosure via sibling-directory prefix confusion
Published Feb 13, 2023 · Updated Mar 21, 2025
Path traversal in Jesse Keane Glance before 3.0.9 allows remote authenticated users to read files outside the configured public root. The serveRequest method checks whether the resolved request path begins with the root string, so a sibling directory sharing that prefix passes containment validation. Exploitation requires a reachable Glance HTTP server and a known file beneath such a sibling directory; the resulting impact is limited to file reads.
