Unauthenticated file disclosure via unchecked request paths
Published Dec 21, 2022 · Updated Apr 16, 2025
Path traversal in cunjieliu easy-static-server 0.1.1 and earlier allows remote attackers to read files outside the configured root. The HTTP handler joins the parsed req.url pathname to the configured root and reads the resulting file without verifying that the normalized path remains inside that root. Remote attackers need only reach the HTTP listener and can retrieve files readable by the server process; no write or execution impact is reported.
