Prototype pollution via unfiltered __proto__ key
Published Aug 9, 2022 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
Prototype pollution in Voodoo Creation ts-deepmerge before 2.0.2 allows remote attackers to alter merged object prototypes. The merge function enumerates attacker-controlled keys and recursively assigns proto, redirecting writes into the target object's prototype. Reachability requires a consuming application to pass attacker-controlled objects to merge; polluted inherited properties can change application behavior or cause a service crash.
