CVE-2022-25897Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Server crash via retained session subscriptions

Published Sep 8, 2022 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

Resource exhaustion in Eclipse Milo sdk-server before 0.6.8 allows remote attackers to crash OPC UA servers via crafted sessions. CloseSession with deleteSubscriptions set to false retains each session's subscriptions and monitored items without enforcing cumulative memory limits. Unauthenticated OPC UA session access is sufficient to repeat these allocations until process memory is exhausted, interrupting the embedded server.
