Account session hijacking via retained session identifiers

Session fixation in Passport before 0.6.0 allows context-dependent attackers to hijack an authenticated user's session. SessionManager.logIn attaches the serialized user to the existing session without first regenerating its identifier, so a preauthentication ID persists across login. Exploitation requires prior access to the victim's browser session or another application flaw that injects or discloses the session identifier.
