Application crash via unchecked stream callback result
Published Nov 1, 2022 · Updated May 5, 2025
Null-pointer dereference in MuhammaraJS before 2.6.0 and HummusJS before 1.0.111 allows remote attackers to crash applications via invalid data. PDFStreamForResponse accepts an invalid backing object, and ObjectByteWriterWithPosition::Write forces a failed V8 callback result into a local value. Exploitation requires a consuming application to pass attacker-controlled invalid data into this library path; the documented consequence is a hard process crash rather than data access or modification.
