Remote server compromise via autoType bypass
Published Jun 10, 2022 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
Deserialization of untrusted data in Alibaba Group Fastjson before 1.2.83 allows remote attackers to compromise servers via crafted JSON. ParserConfig.checkAutoType accepts attacker-controlled @type values when default autoType shutdown restrictions are bypassed, enabling unsafe Java object deserialization. The attack requires a remotely reachable application that passes untrusted JSON to Fastjson; resulting compromise can affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
