CVE-2022-2584Network attack vector

Application crash via unchecked link length

Published Dec 27, 2022 · Updated Apr 11, 2025

Denial of service in IPLD go-codec-dagpb before 1.3.1 allows remote attackers to crash consuming applications via malformed DAG-PB blocks. DecodeBytes trusts a protobuf Links field's declared byte length and slices the remaining input to that length without verifying sufficient bytes remain. A consuming application must pass attacker-controlled data to Decode, DecodeBytes, Decoder, or Unmarshal; the resulting out-of-bounds slice panics the processing goroutine and can interrupt the service.
