Credential disclosure via pairing method confusion

Authentication bypass in Bluetooth Core Specification v1.0B through v5.3 allows physically proximate attackers to acquire pairing credentials via Bluetooth. The pairing process accepts BR/EDR Secure Connections Passkey authentication with an Initiator while using Legacy PIN pairing with a Responder; a man-in-the-middle brute-forces the six-digit PIN and reuses it as the Passkey. Successful exploitation requires two pairing devices, adjacent proximity, one device supporting Secure Connections and the other Legacy PIN pairing, plus user entry of the PIN; confidentiality and integrity of the pairing credentials are affected.
