Local command execution via crafted filenames
Published Jun 7, 2023 · Updated Jan 7, 2025
Command injection in Percona XtraBackup through 2.2.24 and 3.0 through 8.0.27-19 allows local users to execute arbitrary commands. Percona has not published the filename-handling function or the operation that forwards the crafted local filename into a shell command. Exploitation requires low-privileged local access and a filename that XtraBackup processes, after which commands run with XtraBackup's privileges.
