CVE-2022-25821

Local information disclosure via SMS buffer pointer

Published Mar 8, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Out-of-bounds read in Samsung Mobile Devices before SMR Mar-2022 Release 1 allows local users to disclose baseband memory via SMS handling. The Shannon baseband uses an SMS buffer pointer improperly, permitting reads beyond the intended buffer; Samsung has not disclosed the exact function or pointer error. Affected targets run Android 10, 11, or 12 with Exynos CP chipsets, and exploitation requires local low-privileged access without user interaction.
