Authenticated-user redirection via unchecked next parameter
Published Aug 16, 2022 · Updated Sep 17, 2024
Open redirect in CERT/CC VINCE before 1.50.0 allows remote attackers to redirect authenticated users to impersonation sites. The login view in cogauth/views.py accepts the next query parameter as a redirect destination without first restricting it to an allowed host. The attack requires an authenticated user to follow a crafted link and then submit sensitive information to the impersonation site.
