Authenticated code execution via CLI buffer overflow
Published Apr 12, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stack-based buffer overflow in Siemens SCALANCE X-300 firmware before 4.1.4 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code. The device CLI handles arguments such as IP addresses without adequate bounds enforcement, allowing data to overrun a stack buffer. Reachability requires valid credentials and network access to the management CLI; successful exploitation grants code execution on the switch.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
