CVE-2022-25740Network attack vector

Remote memory corruption via IPv6 address construction

Published Apr 4, 2023 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Buffer overflow in Qualcomm Snapdragon modem firmware allows remote attackers to corrupt memory during IPv6 multicast address construction. The modem code overwrites a destination buffer while deriving the multicast address from an interface MAC address, without checking that the constructed value fits. No authentication or user interaction is required, but Qualcomm does not disclose whether the overwrite produces a crash or code execution.
