Information disclosure via unchecked DNS IP type
Published Apr 4, 2023 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Buffer over-read in Qualcomm Snapdragon modem firmware allows remote attackers to disclose memory during DNS server query processing. The modem DNS path fails to validate the IP address type before using a query result, causing an out-of-bounds read for an unexpected type. No authentication or user action is required; exposed memory can be disclosed, and Qualcomm also records limited service interruption.
