CVE-2022-25648Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Command execution via fetch remote argument injection

Published Apr 19, 2022 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

Command injection in Ruby/Git before 1.11.0 allows attackers to execute arbitrary commands through a crafted fetch remote argument. Git::Lib#fetch placed the remote value before the option terminator, so --upload-pack was parsed as a Git option and its payload was executed. Exploitation requires a consuming application to pass attacker-controlled input as the remote argument with another fetch argument, and commands run with the application's privileges.
