Script execution via unsanitized group policy fields
Published Dec 9, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Stored XSS in Symantec Messaging Gateway before 10.8 allows remote authenticated users to execute script in an administrator's browser. The AdminGroupPolicyFlow$save.flo handler stores unsanitized adminGroupName or adminGroupDescription input and later renders it on the admin group policy page. The attacker needs an authenticated session to save a group policy, and exploitation requires another user to view the stored content; script execution can read or alter data available to that user's session.
