CVE-2022-25629Network attack vector

Stored XSS via annotation text rendering

Published Dec 9, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025

Stored cross-site scripting in Symantec Messaging Gateway before 10.8 allows remote authenticated users to execute script via crafted annotations. The annotation text column stores attacker-controlled markup and renders it on the annotations page without adequate neutralization. Content-tab add/edit privilege and a victim viewing the annotations page are required, limiting impact to script execution in that management context with confidentiality and integrity effects.
