Code execution via untrusted XML deserialization
Published Mar 29, 2023 · Updated Feb 18, 2025
Deserialization of untrusted data in OPC Labs QuickOPC 2022.1 allows remote attackers to execute code through a malicious XML file. Connectivity Explorer loads saved Live Points from XML without adequately validating serialized objects before deserializing them. The target must open the attacker-supplied file, and code runs with the privileges of the Connectivity Explorer process.
