CVE-2022-2553Network attack vector

Unauthenticated node communication via ignored authfile

Published Jul 28, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Authentication bypass in ClusterLabs Booth after 1.0-85-gda79b8b allows remote attackers to communicate with cluster nodes. The setup_config function tests an authentication-request macro instead of the configured authfile value, so a nonempty authfile is ignored and the key is not loaded for node-to-node checks. An attacker able to reach the Booth communication endpoint can join protocol exchanges without the configured key, undermining cluster-node authentication; the record does not report data modification or service interruption.
