CVE-2022-25514Public exploit

Application crash via unchecked font-data read

Published Mar 17, 2022 · Updated Oct 30, 2024

Heap-buffer overflow in stb_truetype.h 1.26 allows attackers to crash an embedding application via a malformed TrueType font. The ttUSHORT helper reads a two-byte unsigned value from the supplied font buffer without checking that both bytes remain in bounds. The claim is disputed because the library is documented for trusted input, making exposure dependent on an embedding application violating that contract.
