Route injection and service interruption via unauthenticated endpoint
Published Mar 10, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Missing authentication in FreeTAKServer 1.9.8 and earlier allows remote attackers to inject routes or interrupt service through its REST API. The /ManageRoute/postRoute endpoint accepts unauthenticated route submissions and broadcasts them to every connected end-user device. Network access to the REST API is sufficient to fill client maps with routes, rendering them unusable, or to distribute unsafe or false route guidance.
