Stored script execution via unescaped Callsign
Published Mar 10, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in FreeTAKServer-UI 1.9.8 allows remote authenticated users to execute script in an administrator’s browser via Callsign. The emergency-alert paths accept a Callsign containing HTML event-handler markup and store it for later rendering in the Web UI without neutralization. A field user or Web UI user can submit the payload, but execution requires an administrator to view the resulting alert; demonstrated consequences include script execution and exposure of a server REST API key.
