CVE-2022-25480Public exploit

Kernel memory overwrite via unchecked sense-data offset

Published Jul 2, 2024 · Updated Jul 9, 2026

Out-of-bounds write in Realtek RtsPer.sys before 10.0.22000.21355 allows local users to overwrite kernel memory through a crafted SCSI request. The failed IOCTL_SCSI_PASS_THROUGH_DIRECT path adds an unchecked SenseInfoOffset to IRP SystemBuffer and copies sense data to the resulting address. A permissive device ACL permits nonprivileged access; the published request crashes Windows, while targeted writes require predicting SystemBuffer and controlling the sense data.
