CVE-2022-25352Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Prototype pollution via unchecked nested path traversal

Published Mar 17, 2022 · Updated Sep 17, 2024

Prototype pollution in Dominic Tarr libnested before 1.5.2 allows remote attackers to modify shared object prototypes through crafted paths. The set function in index.js traverses attacker-controlled path elements, including array-wrapped proto and constructor/prototype segments, then assigns a supplied value through the inherited prototype chain. Exploitation requires a consuming application to pass attacker-controlled paths to set; resulting effects depend on how that application uses inherited properties.
