Arbitrary code execution via dwmapi.dll preloading
Published Mar 31, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Untrusted DLL search in HiBARA Software AttacheCase 4.0.2.7 and earlier allows local users to execute code via a planted DLL. AttacheCase.exe searches its own directory for dwmapi.dll and loads an attacker-planted copy at startup before a trusted system copy. An attacker must place the DLL beside the executable and induce a user to launch it; the code then runs with that user's privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=ver.4.0.2.7 and earlier
