Authenticated process crash via oversized command allocation
Published Feb 24, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Denial of service in Trend Micro ServerProtect 6.0 and 5.8 allows remote authenticated users to crash the Information Server. EarthAgent.exe passes an attacker-controlled size from multiple TCP port 5005 commands to the C++ new operator without handling allocation failure. Access to the Information Server as an authenticated client is required, and successful exploitation terminates that process without reported data disclosure or modification.
