Authentication bypass via static console credential
Published Feb 24, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Hard-coded credentials in Trend Micro ServerProtect 5.8 and 6.0 allow remote attackers to register as authenticated console clients. EarthAgent.exe accepts a CMD_REGISTER message with console type 1 and authenticates it using a credential embedded in the Information Server. Network access to the Information Server is required; successful registration grants the actions available to an authenticated client console.
