Administrator-browser script execution via stored browser field
Published Feb 24, 2022 · Updated Jan 31, 2025
Stored XSS in VeronaLabs WP Statistics 13.1.5 and earlier allows remote attackers to run scripts when administrators view statistics. The unauthenticated /wp-json/wp-statistics/v2/hit endpoint stores the browser parameter without sufficient sanitization, and visitor report pages render it without adequate output escaping. A site administrator must view the poisoned statistics entry, where the script executes in the site's administrative origin with that browser session's privileges.
