Object prototype pollution via unchecked property paths
Published May 1, 2022 · Updated Sep 17, 2024
Prototype pollution in Metabench jsgui-lang-essentials 0.4.3 and earlier allows remote attackers to alter inherited object properties. The ll_set function splits an attacker-controlled dotted property path and assigns through each segment without rejecting proto, constructor, or prototype. Exploitation requires consuming code to pass attacker-controlled paths to ll_set; resulting effects depend on how polluted properties are later used.
