Process-wide property modification via unsafe prototype traversal
Published Mar 17, 2022 · Updated Sep 17, 2024
Prototype pollution in Diego Haz bodymen 0.0.0 and later allows remote attackers to modify Object.prototype through crafted input. The handler accepts an array containing proto, bypasses its string-only guard, and writes the supplied name and value into Object.prototype. Reachability requires an application to expose attacker-controlled input to the middleware; polluted properties can alter logic throughout the Node.js process.
