Script execution via unvalidated back URL
Published Feb 19, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Cross-site scripting in SAS Web Report Studio 4.4 allows remote attackers to execute script in a victim's browser via a crafted URL. The logonAndRender.do endpoint uses saspfs_request_backurl_list as a return target and accepts a javascript: scheme that executes when the back button is activated. Exploitation requires a victim to open the crafted report URL and activate the back button, exposing that browser session to attacker-controlled script.
