Authenticated remote code execution via authorization bypass
Published May 27, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Authorization bypass in Bonita Web 2021.2 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code through privileged API actions. RestAPIAuthorizationFilter applies an overly broad exclusion pattern, so URLs ending in ;i18ntranslation or /../i18ntranslation/ skip authorization checks and reach protected endpoints. Exploitation requires a valid user session but no assigned privileges, and privileged API operations can deploy attacker-controlled code on the server.
