User-session script execution via unescaped query error
Published Jul 25, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Reflected XSS in Beancount Fava before 1.22.2 allows remote attackers to execute script in a user's browser via a crafted query. The query view inserts a query_string-derived error into the DOM with Svelte's raw HTML directive instead of escaping it. A user must open the crafted request; the script runs in that user's Fava origin and can alter information available to the session.
