Stored script execution via unsafe Markdown links
Published Mar 3, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in PeTeReport 0.5 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript in another user's browser via a Markdown link. Markdown descriptions for products, reports, and findings preserve a javascript-scheme URL and render it as a clickable link without neutralizing the scheme. Administrative access is required to save the payload, and another user must view the description and click the link; the script then runs in that viewer's session.
