Process crash via conflicting crop options
Published Aug 31, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Double free in tiffcrop's rotateImage() in LibTIFF 4.4.0rc1 allows remote attackers to crash tiffcrop via a crafted TIFF file. The option parser permits -S with mutually exclusive crop-selection options, causing successive image processing to release the buffer twice in rotateImage(). Execution requires a user to run tiffcrop on attacker-supplied input with conflicting options; the demonstrated process abort interrupts that conversion job.
