Controller file disclosure via readTrusted symlink following
Published Feb 15, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Path traversal in Jenkins Pipeline: Multibranch Plugin 706.vd43c65dec013 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to read controller files. The readTrusted step follows a crafted symbolic link outside the configured SCM checkout instead of verifying that the resolved file remains inside it. Pipeline configuration permission and control of SCM contents are required; successful exploitation discloses arbitrary files readable by the controller.
