CVE-2022-25170

Arbitrary code execution via project-file stack overflow

Published Feb 25, 2022 · Updated Apr 16, 2025

Stack-based buffer overflow in FATEK Automation FvDesigner 1.5.100 and earlier allows attackers to execute arbitrary code via a project file. The project-file parser writes attacker-controlled data beyond a stack buffer, corrupting adjacent control data during processing. Exploitation requires a local user to open a crafted project file, after which code runs with that user's application privileges.
