Remote code execution via crafted packets
Published Jun 2, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Improper input validation in Mitsubishi Electric MELSEC modules allows remote unauthenticated attackers to execute code or cause DoS via crafted packets. The Web and REST server functions accept specially crafted packet fields without proper validation, allowing malformed input to reach unsafe processing. No authentication is required; successful exploitation can interrupt service until reset or execute malicious code on the device.
