CVE-2022-25162Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Communication interruption via unchecked file length subtraction

Published May 18, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Improper input validation in Mitsubishi Electric MELSEC iQ-F CPU firmware allows remote attackers to interrupt PLC communications. When closing a crafted transferred file, the controller subtracts an unvalidated header size from the total file size and uses the resulting body length for checksum processing. Unauthenticated network access is sufficient; exploitation disables the targeted protocol port while PLC program execution continues.
