SYSTEM execution via installer configuration race
Published Mar 9, 2022 · Updated Jul 9, 2026
Privilege escalation in Printix Secure Cloud Print Management 1.3.1106.0 and earlier allows local users to execute files as SYSTEM. PrintixService.exe launches an elevated installer whose user-writable msiwrapper.ini file names SetupFileName, allowing a race winner to substitute an arbitrary payload. Any logged-in Windows user can trigger the installed MSI and gain SYSTEM execution, although winning the race can require repeated attempts.
