Administrative access via embedded default credentials
Published Mar 2, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Hard-coded credentials in Home Owners Collection Management System 1.0 allow remote attackers to gain administrative panel access. The Database folder’s hocms_db.sql file embeds the administrator password as a crackable MD5 hash instead of requiring a deployment-specific secret. Exploitation requires recovery of the distributed hash and submission of the resulting default credentials to the web login, which grants access to all administrative features.
