SYSTEM privilege escalation via unquoted service path
Published Mar 3, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Unquoted service path in RDPSoft Remote Desktop Commander Suite Agent before 4.8 allows local users to gain SYSTEM privileges. The Windows service registers its executable path without quotation marks, causing service startup to parse space-delimited path prefixes as executable candidates. Exploitation requires a non-default installation path or weakened NTFS permissions that let a low-privileged user place a binary in a parsed prefix.
