CVE-2022-25010

Arbitrary file access via Lua root mount

Published Mar 1, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Improper filesystem access in StepMania 5.1 beta 2 and earlier allows context-dependent attackers to read or rewrite host files. On Linux, RageFile exposes the host root directory as /rootfs to Lua, rather than limiting Lua content to application-controlled paths. Execution of an untrusted theme or mod is required; that content can overwrite user data and extract files through USB profiles.
