Authenticated script execution via unescaped portal data
Published Jul 22, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored cross-site scripting in OpenEMR before 7.0.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript in another user's browser. The portal patient-data editor's patientdata.js passes stored key and value data into jQuery .html() while building an anchor without escaping either field. An authenticated user must save crafted data and another user must view the affected portal element, enabling actions or data access in that viewer's session.
