Unauthenticated firmware downgrade via initial setup menus
Published Apr 28, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Missing authentication in Lexmark device firmware allows remote attackers to downgrade firmware through the initial setup wizard. The initial setup menus expose Firmware Updates through the embedded web server without restricting public access. No account or user interaction is required; older firmware exposes the device to earlier flaws, while code execution requires chaining another vulnerability.
