CVE-2022-24924Public exploit

Privileged directory creation via unchecked named-pipe client

Published Feb 11, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Improper access control in Samsung Live Wallpaper before 3.0.9.0 allows local users to create a directory under System32. The SYSTEM service accepts 33; over LiveWallpaperPipe without validating the client, then creates LiveWallpaperData through an attacker-controlled junction into System32. A low-privileged user must access the local pipe while the service is running and prepare the junction; the demonstrated effect is one privileged directory creation.
