Local file disclosure via unrestricted WebView loading
Published Feb 11, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Improper access control in Samsung SearchWidget before 2.3.00.6 allows local users to expose local files through a WebView. The SearchWidget WebView accepts arbitrary URLs and local-file references supplied by untrusted applications without enforcing the intended access boundary. Exploitation requires a malicious application on an affected China-model device, and the documented consequence is local information disclosure.
